Data pages, reviewed quarterly

The numbers, with their sources attached.

Most retention statistics on the internet have been copied so many times that the original source is gone. These pages exist to be the opposite: every figure named, linked to whoever published it, laid out in a real table, and dated. Where we don’t have a number, there is an em dash and a note saying so.

How these pages are built

Five rules. They’re the reason we’re comfortable being quoted, and the reason some of these tables have holes in them.

Named sources, linked
Every figure carries the name of the organisation that published it, next to the figure and again in the methodology. Pages that cite get cited.
Real tables, never images
The data is HTML you can select, quote and check. A screenshot of a table is a table nobody can use.
An em dash where we don’t have it
An empty cell stays empty. We don’t estimate a number into a table to make it look complete — that is how bad figures enter circulation.
Reviewed every quarter
Each page shows when it was last updated. If a source republishes, the page changes and the date moves with it.
Our own data, when it’s worth citing
Rows marked “to publish” are ones we intend to fill with Pointerflow client data once the sample is large enough to stand behind.
